“What is the most important thing for a company? Is it the cash flow? Is it the inventory? Nuh-uh. It’s the people. The people.”

Whether or not you take management advice from Michael Scott, Regional Director of Dunder Mifflin from the popular comedy show The Office, he makes a valid point. While we may rely more on our iPads than our paper distributor in order to run our daily business operations, what’s really most important is the people, our customers.

Customers today have high expectations and hold more power than ever before. IBM is plowing forward with various platforms to help marketers meet these demands. In a world with constant connectivity, customers demand almost instant responses and one misstep in their buying experience can leave them running to your competitor, along with hundreds of their Facebook friends and Twitter followers. This is the challenge that IBM’s various marketing platforms face. These include Silverpop and Unica for marketing automation, along with Watson and other Business Intelligence platforms for valuable insights. More

How do you promote your brand and share your company message? Most of the time, we rely on the expected channels of Twitter or the tedious effort of engaging with those top influential people in the industry, hoping that one day they’ll share your latest blog post. What many companies overlook is their most powerful marketing asset, the employees, who are right within arm’s reach. But with everyone’s busy lives, impossible schedules and over-flowing inboxes, how can you expect your employees to take the time to share your company message and become your next “brand ambassador?”

We found one company with an amazing success story behind their recently launched employee advocacy program. Here, we interview Liz Pedro who initiated Mitel’s advocacy program and saw stellar results beginning on day one. More

I’m sure I’m not the only one who was surprised to see Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey walk on stage at Content Marketing World 2014 in Cleveland this fall, one of the largest content marketing conferences out there today. Spacey plays the character of Frank Underwood, ruthless politician on “House of Cards” and is famous for his quotes like, “For those of us climbing to the top of the food chain, there is but one rule: Hunt or be hunted.” Is this good advice for a digital marketer?
